Another Sporting Accolade for Young Gymnast

Deerness Gymnastics Academy acrobat Finn Gavin has won a prestigious sporting accolade in Northumberland for the second time.

The sports stars of Alnwick and district were honoured at a special awards night at the town’s Playhouse Theatre when fourteen trophies for sporting achievement in 2015 were handed out to individuals and teams in the annual event organised by the Alnwick and District Sports Council.

Finn Gavin was the recipient of the Junior Male Award, sponsored by His Grace the Duke of Northumberland

In 2015 Finn became British Champion for the third time and also qualified for the European Acrobatic Championships where he represented his country.

“I’m thrilled to win this award for the second time. It’s a good feeling when all your hard work and achievements are acknowledged,” said Finn Gavin.

Finn​, aged 14,​ is a gymnast at Deerness Gymnastics Academy where he competes in acrobatics in a men’s group. Finn and his team mates Nathan Brady, Ryan Dury and Michael Gill, have just been selected to represent Great Britain ​in the 13-19 age group category ​at the forthcoming World Championships in China.
