Young acrobats get 2018 off to a winning start

Deerness Gymnastics Academy young acrobats got 2018 off to a winning start as its young gymnasts competed in the Regional NDP (National Development Program) Championships last month. The club won 13 medals, 8 gold and 3 silver and a fifth place.  The gold medallists in eight partnerships, 21 gymnasts in total, qualified for the national finals.

The Regional championships were held in Newton Aycliffe on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March, when 29 acrobats from Deerness competed against other gymnasts from the north to compete to represent the region at a national level.

All gold medallists will now go forward to the national NDP finals in May, representing the North of England.

Deerness Gymnastics Academy in Ushaw Moor is a high-performance acrobatic gymnastics centre for British Gymnastics.
